Big Bear 4 x 24 = 2 x12 and $1,000!!
Back in March XXC reported that race director Mark Schooley was planning on saving the shattered remains of the 24 Hours of Big Bear with a the Big Bear 4 x 24 race. A four lap race of 24 miles each with solos, duos and sport class 4 person teams. Well after some thinkin' and head scratchin' the format has been changed to The Big Bear 2 x 12 on Saturday, June 12, 2010 @ 10:00 a.m. at Big Bear Lake Camplands in W.V.. With a SWEET cash payout for the winning Open class teams- $1,000!!!
Expert Duo teams will ride 6 laps (3 x 12.8 mile per racer) and Sport Duo teams will race 4 laps (2 x 12.8 mile laps per racer). Entry is $75 for Open Classes and $65 for Sport Classes. License Required: WVMBA membership or $5 one day WVMBA membership

Duo male open, Duo female open, Duo coed open, Duo single speed, Duo male sport, Duo female sport, Duo male vet sport 35+, Duo female vet sport 35+, Duo male masters sport 45+, Duo Clydesdale (200+ lbs each)

By the way, if you are feeling spanky, and don't mind paying $150, I have a pretty good feeling no one would say anything if you registered as a Duo and raced Solo. In 1996 John Stamstad completed the first Solo attempt of the 24 Hours of Canaan by using four variations of his name to register. Just sayin'.
