#7 The Not Without Issues Issue
To much time.
That is my excuse and I'm sticking with it. I took too much time to put together Issue #7 in the hopes of getting in right. Instead, I messed up a few things beyond the standard type-o's and design flaws....
In the end, it's all good (sort of).
This isn't the government, or the corporate world, where problems can be brushed under the carpet amidst hordes of employees and middle management types (no offence to m.m. types). It's just me and some generous contributors pumping out XXC Mag, so when I screw up, I know it was me, and I need to fix it. And it sucks. I'm not the type to not blather on about things so I will come clean with the issues of the Issue.
While the following aren't huge, I want you to know about it...
The eMag download. If you purchased XXC #7 in DL or an item from the Merch page you were sent a link for your DL. The PDF that you received was set up as individual pages for the printer, not for easy viewing on your computer, iPad, etc., I started to send out replacement links and then jacked THAT up. Some folks got it, some didn't. Since I don't want to jam up peoples e mail boxes with MORE stuff, if you purchased the eMag or other Merch and got a mag NOT set up with double page spreads, and want the easier to read version (IMHO), send me an e mail with your order # to xxcmag (at) gmail.com and I will shoot you off a link. Thanks.
Issue #2, Paper
With the need to go from 60 pages to 64 pages for XXC #7 I failed to realized that this would cause MagCloud to switch paper from heavier 80 pound stock to 60 pound. I was very disappointed to say the least. It still looks great, it just doesn't have the nice heavy "feel" that issues #5 and #6 had. I may work to "edit" the mag to 60 pages for an option for folks in the future via MagCloud, but I will most likely just live with my mistake(?) of too much content on this one and make note of the page limit for Issue #8.
Stickers- This is no big deal since they are due in HQ today, but I ran out of logo stickers and this has delayed the shipment of some of the print issues ordered from xxcmag.com. Those delayed mags SHOULD ship today unless FedEX throws a stick in my spokes.
Lastly, I sold out the first shipment print editions. I was hesitant to order more since I over ordered Issue #6, but am going to go ahead and order more today. So expect them in to ship late next week. The advantage to ordering from XXC rather than MagCloud is International shipping for readers outside of the U.S./Canada/U.K., Free download of XXC #7 and a couple stickers. The mag is the same.
Don't forget the contest going on NOW! Anyone that orders a download, mag or T until June 21st gets entered into the XXC 1st Anniversary Giveaway, brought to you by XXC, ByeKyle, Squirt Lube, Princeton Tec and Ergon.
As always thanks for supporting XXC Magazine. I promise LESS "issues" with the NEXT Issue! (due in July!).
